Application of Leak 2D to Describe Preferential Water Flow in a Soil Containing Artificial Macropores

چکیده

Leak 2D is a new two-dimensional dual permeability mathematical model for the simulation of preferential flow in vadose zone. In this model, water soil matrix domain described by h-based Richards’ equation. Water fracture estimated using kinematic wave approach. equation solved combination alternating direction implicit (A.D.I.) method and Douglas Jones predictor−corrector method. The explicitly. present paper, calibrated validated with data obtained Hele–Shaw apparatus filled sand. Preferential achieved inserting four artificial macropores various sizes into soil. Six irrigations intensities durations were used calibration validation process. content at depths was recorded five sensors that inserted A comparison simulated measured profiles shows can sufficiently describe unsaturated zone soil, even under extreme irrigation conditions.

An infiltration model based on flow variability in macropores: development, sensitivity analysis and applications

Simulating infiltration in soils containing macropores still provides unsatisfactory results, as existing models seem not to capture all relevant processes. Recent studies of macropore flow initiation in natural soils containing earthworm channels revealed a distinct flow rate variability in the macropores depending on the initiation process. When macropore flow was initiated at the soil surfac...

مدل‌‌سازی جریان ترجیحی با استفاده از مدل موج سینماتیک- پخشی (KDW) در خاک و نقش ماکروپورها در ایجاد آن

Preferential flow is of great importance in the environment and the human health. So, rapid water transportation and consequently, pollutants and pesticides leak out and get into the groundwater, making it very difficult to measure and quantify. To quantify and describe the preferential flow, two gravity-driven models were used: 1) kinematic wave model (KW) introduced by Germann in 1985), and 2...

Inverse Dual-Permeability Modeling of Preferential Water Flow in a Soil Column and Implications for Field-Scale Solute Transport

The question of whether or not soil hydraulic parameters of dualpermeability models (DPM) can be properly identified by inverse analysis of preferential water flow data has not been resolved to date. We applied a DPM based on two coupled Richards’ equations to compare the performance of inverse and forward simulations of laboratory preferential flow data. Infiltration and drainage experiments w...
